Hazardous Site Inspections – why the leaching of chemicals could have been avoided at the West Footscray industrial fire site.

Uaviation’s robots routinely replace inspectors in situations where engulfment, fall from heights, contamination, crushing, hearing damage, or poisoning are real risks. These solutions are faster, safer and more affordable than manned inspections, and usually remove the need for downtime for operations.

DroneDeploy “Mission Exceeds Maximum Radius” SOLVED

I’ve been using DroneDeploy as a flight control system frequently in the last couple of weeks. Whilst good, I keep encountering issues during pre-flight. On this occasion I encountered “Mission Exceeds Maximum Radius” during the pre-flight checks for our Inspire. I didn’t know this at the time but within the DJI GO app there is a section called ‘distance limit’ under the MC Settings that acts as a geofence. If your mapping mission exceeds this limit, it will throw you a settings error. Just uncheck distance limit or change it to something larger than the maximum distance for your mission. …

DroneDeploy Waiting for Drone SOLVED

Last week was our first attempt at using the DroneDeploy app as a flight control system for our DJI Inspire. Whilst the operational delivery of the app was simple, in the initial setup can we encountered a number of problems. These problem are all drawn from safety precautions taken by the app which is a good sign, however error messages are not very descriptive. The first problem we had was the “Waiting for Drone” message. On connection of the inspire I was not able to connect the drone as this message would remain. I was conducting these test connections inside …

Matthew Lee Meets the Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change

I had the pleasure of representing Uaviation as a panel member the DELWP RPAS providers at a press release by the environment minister Lily D’Ambrosio at Melbourne Zoo on Saturday. Thinking initially that my role was just to deliver an example drone for the minister to point at, I had not anticipated what turned out to be a more involved role. The extent of the coverage we received from the press and the enjoyment I would draw from this experience. My first job was to set up our drone next to another RPAS provider’s drone.  Feeling somewhat intimidated by their 40kg+ monster of an aircraft, …

Equipped with a revolutionary new positioning system that uses ten sonars and ten 3D cameras to “sense and avoid” obstacles. It has been built to inspect hard-to-reach locations like bridges, overpasses and coal conveyors. It can hover in place just centimeters from an obstacle (all withour GPS) while it carefully surveys and inspects This UAV sports an upward-facing camera and gimbal and live HD broadcast to the ground so engineers can pick and choose what they are looking at.
