Asset Inspection

Victorian Fire Tower Inspection

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Uaviation conducted asset inspection surveys of several fire towers for the state government in September 2016.

Using unmanned aircraft proved safer, faster and more accurate than conventional means that included scaffolding, leading edge, rope access and ground-based camera work.

The imagery produced included an array of high definition close-up images taken at slow shutter speeds and small apertures. This method provides some-what grainy images, but it allows the viewer excellent visibility into low-light and shadowed areas.

Our two-man team managed to cover over 750km, get lost twice and still inspect four fire towers in one day. We can see several areas to improve that will provide even better aerial asset inspection results for our customers.
